The stables were originally constructed in Castner Village on upper post for the 5th Cavalry in 1908. The stables were supposed to be part of the permanent post so they were sturdy and more permanent than other construction taking place at that time. Although the cavalry has not been here for many years, the buildings are still used for storage and one building is used as part of the MOUT (Military Operations in Urbanized Terrain) course.
