11. Quarters No 652


Quarters No 652 was the home of General Curtis E LeMay, when he was a young lieutenant stationed at Wheeler from 1934 to 1936. He was personally involved in Amelia Earhart’s flight when ordered to check her navigational equipment and her ability before the Commanding Officer would allow her to depart from Wheeler Field.


Barracks at Wheeler Field
The barracks at Wheeler Field suffered heavy damage
during the Japanese attack in 1941.
